This morning we woke to the collective howling of 66 alaskan huskies… known for their mutt like qualities, strength and endurance…. no alarm clocks required here… just make sure you sleep next to the dog pens and around feeding time at 7am they will surely wake you… so as snow flurries fell and with a temperature of minus 22 degrees we set out on our day sled… the challenge of the day was to corner and brake without falling off, remember the dog commans, ensure you don’t get hit by dog poop while sledding and make sure we make the lunch time bbq…
so after slowly navigating sharp corners, uphills that required you to run along your sled a bit (those of us who are a tiny bit heavier than the rest) and hang on for the down hills we loved slurping onthe rich hot chocolates for lunch, followed by caribou sausage bbq’ed by a campire off the track and finished with delicious chocolate brownies, all the while dodging the light falling snow… and the dogs… they feasted on yummy biscuits.
With the cloud lifting and the sun coming out, the afternoon sledding allowed us to scream into the downhills, rip along the trails and enjoy snow covered mountainous vistas…..incredible….and f you are all wondering if we are cold… hell no… we are rugged up in artic coats (complete with fur ruff) and pants, mitts, goggles, incredible moon boots which means we are toasty warm and so very, very happy… so… 2012… who’s keen on a trip… this place is amazing!
