The Aussie 10 Peaks a short sharp adventure across the 10 highest peaks in Australia all in Kosciuszko National Park. Whilst only a short adventure – four days – it’s not be underestimated. You will find the conditions and distance quite a challenge but we like to reward you by staying in a luxury chalet resort each night. We spend the first and last day traveling to and from Jindabyne. Getting our equipment organised and ensuring we’re all set for the adventure. The first trekking day is a big one and where the real challenge lies. We cover approximately 35km and six peaks in the first day on a day that many liken to the longest day on the Kokoda Track. The backdrop is the stunning Snowy Mountains as we cross the iconic Snowy River throughout the day as well as take in views of the highest glacial lakes in Australia.
There are so many amazing photo opportunities that rest breaks become quite regular as you look to capture the moment. We return to our chalet feeling exhausted and yet accomplished. The second day of trekking is much easier as we only have four peaks to get to. We will leave via Thredbo and finish the trek on top of the highest point in Australia – Mount Kosciuszko. Then it’s down to the Thredbo pub to nourish our weary bodies before heading back to the resort for the rest of the afternoon off. This adventure is amazing, challenging, beautiful – it truly has it all proving that great things come in small packages.

Today is a big day as we tackle the first six peaks in the Kosciuszko National Park. We start early and drive approx.. 45 minutes to Charlotte’s Pass and make our way to the top of Byatt’s Camp, Abbott’s Peak, Mt Townsend and Alice Rawson before dropping down into a valley and up the other side. Then we make our way to Carruthers Peak and onto our last peak for the day, Mt Twynam before making the final trek home.
This takes between 9 to 12 hours. Then we overnight back in the chalet. Shower. Feed. Sleep.
Today we start a little later. After a hearty hot breakfast we drive to Thredbo and take the chairlift up to our start point. We then make our way to Ramshead, Ramshead North, Etheridge and finally the highest point in Australia – Mt Kosciuszko.
Whilst not as big as the previous day it’s still a 5 to 6 hour day. Time to head back to the chalet and enjoy a well-earned drink, some dinner and some tall stories about our adventure.
